If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give into it.
-Mary Oliver
The crux of my theology springs from the idea that everything is interconnected and it is informed by Liberationist and Process Theologies. From a Process perspective, I believe in a Divine that is ever-evolving, ever-changing, ever-learning and in a co-creative relationship with both the human and the more-than-human worlds. I am inspired by the novelist Octavia Butler who wrote:
“All that you touch you Change. All that you Change Changes you. The only lasting truth is Change. God Is Change.”
From the Liberationist perspective, I believe in human flourishing and the ability of all to have access to resources and the chance to live their best and fullest lives and the creation of multicultural, Beloved Community in which difference is respected and people’s varying experiences are cherished and honored.
I find the Divine in the natural world and love spending enormous amounts of time outside. I have had my most profound spiritual experiences alone in the natural world and I have a deep affinity for Christian mystical and contemplative traditions.
